Thursday in Lake San Antonio
Viernes, 30 de Abril de 2010 14:42

26 hours after leaving home we arrived to Lake San Antonio where all the AVIA staff was waiting to wellcome us. We went straight to bed, too many hours without a decent sleep, we enjoyed the moment we got into bed. Hour “home” for the next 4 days here at the AVIA Wildflower Triathlon is a massive RV, the size of a bus in Europe, but not too big for american standards, where everything tends to be big, specially cars. Our situation is awesome, in one side we have Lake San Antonio and in the other side the transition area, race morning we just roll out of bed and fall into the transition area, couldn´t ask for a better situation. Today there is not much movement around, the expo and vendors are being set up, but triathletes are already filling the camping area and tomorrow the ambience is going to be great. We rode our bikes this morning to loose our legs from the long trip, we will train a little bit more this afternoon, but the hardest thing today will be to not fall sleep because the jetlag is hitting us hard.

See you!!

Getting closer to Widlflower
Jueves, 22 de Abril de 2010 20:36

I am getting closer to Wildflower, next wednesday we are flying to California, if the situation in the european airports improves definitely. The training I am doing is more oriented to the Ironman in Lanzarote may 22, maybe Wildflower comes a little bit to early this year. The level in the californian race is always very high, is one of the most important races in the american racing calendar and the best american triathletes will be there along with some of the best triathletes coming from other parts of the world.

I am feeling good, I have gone through a rare time, I thought it was some type of allergy but the test I did showed negative results so maybe it was some kind of cold or just my body adjusting to the springtime, the most important thing is that now I am feeling at my hundred percent again. It’s been a while since Abu Dhabi, and I am hungry for racing again, this is gonna be the start to a hard competition period and I want to start it the right way.

Good luck in your races and good training to everybody.

Time goes fast, it's almost four weeks from Abu Dhabi. The time of celebrations, recovery and relaxation is gone. I had a time without writing in my web, please excuse me all of you that hoped to know how I was doing, Facebook and Twitter are consuming all my time in front of the computer lately.

Abu Dhabi was a good start to the season but everything is still to come. Someone joking told me that with that race I had already made the season, but this has just begun, I look at the calendar that comes ahead and I know that I’m at the beginning of the road, with batteries and the motivation full charged with that victory in Abu Dhabi of course, but now it is time to get back to the hard training and refocus on doing things right. Wildflower is already around the corner and just in 44 days Ironman Lanzarote is waiting for me. May therefore is going to be a hard month, but June and July will be even harder...

After Abu Dhabi I took a few days off and the return to training cost me a bit, now I'm in the rhythm and routine of daily training and things are easier. The fine weather also helps to start, and the sunny days remind us that summer is approaching. It’s wonderful to go out cycling in shorts, but keeping the waterproof jacket and winter jersey in hand...

Good training and racing to everybody.

What an amazing day!! Things went perfect from the beginning, I had very good sensations all day long. I swam in the leading group, took the bike more conservative than other times, 200 Ks are a lot and I wanted to get fresh to the end of the bike and the run. I felt strong in the beginning of the run and I was able to make a good gap and keep it till the finish line. Last 2 Ks were tough, the legs suffered a lot from the long ride, but I keept pushing and got this precious victory.

Very happy and satisfied with this victory in my first big goal of the year, the work done in Club La Santa in Lanzarote was worthy and I see that we are in the right way. Very motivated for the rest of the season.

Next challenge Wildflower Triathlon and after that my first Ironman of the year... ¿do you imagine wich one?

Thanks for you support, you all make things like this posible ¡¡Big hug from Abu Dhabi!!
