2 stage Lanzarote Mountain Bike
Domingo, 31 de Enero de 2010 19:47
Awesome two mountain bike days in Lanzarote. I wanted to do this race just for fun and to get a good workout in my legs. First day was a fast 34 kms. stage with very low technical difficulties, I finished 7th. Today 60 kms. much harder and technical, I felt tired in the beggining of the stage in part because of yesterdays stage and the afternoon workout... but I felt much better once we passed halfway and I finished very strong and wanting more kilometers, hills and mountain bike!! I finished 15th, It could be better if I didn´t get lost in one of the crossroads, but the result wasn´t important for me this weekend, 8th overall in the final 2 stage ranking. Next year I will do it again if I can, better with my full suspension BH. Now time to get back to the road on my Triathlon bike.
Second at Spanish Winter Triathlon Championships
Lunes, 25 de Enero de 2010 08:51
Hard day yesterday, the competition and the course were tough and I had to give my best to get the second spot on the podium. I got closer than ever to the first place, I had a quite good feeling on the skies, not for the first kilometers, because my legs were very tired after the 20 kms. on the bike, all uphill and with very strong bikers like Patxi Vila (pro cyclist). Victory was again for Victor Lobo, specialist in this discipline and very good on the skies, I tried to follow him once he passed me but his skills on the skies are much much better than mine and finally he run away with the win.
Very nice weekend in Ansó, happy with my season start and having great fun with the event. Winter triathlon is a complicated sport and stressful at some points, you have to take care of weather, snow conditions, race course conditions... and be ready to make changes in your equipment (bike, bike tires, skies...) till the last moment... but you know what... I love this sport!!
Third day on the XC skis this season. This sunday I am doing Spanish Winter Triathlon Championships, as always not enough training with the skis. Last year I was third, let's see if I can improve that. Is gonna be fun anyway!!!!

Last race of the year, first race of the season
Sábado, 02 de Enero de 2010 14:11
It's the San Silvestre, running on the last day of the year, a tradition held in many cities and towns around the world. I remember running this race when I was a kid, and now for the last recent years I have retaken this great tradition. For the first time I did two races, the first one was a race for kids, Rut and I run with our niece, we had a great fun doing this, 1,25 kilometers that Irati, 4 years old, run like nothing, she has good genetic, look for her in the future. It was a good warm up for me, the race for the big ones was a bit longer 6,750 meters. Always a deep field here with some african runners at the start line. Been in my fourth week of training I can´t expect big things from this race (from the results point of view), but is strange that I always feel fast and strong even if I haven´t trained for it. I was 7th across the finishline with a time of 20:05, beating some specialists on the way, some africans among them... but the most important thing is that I had a great time, running on the most centric streets of Vitoria-Gasteiz, all the city for us: runners, triathletes, people who just like to exercise and have fun while doing it... I'll race again next year, is always good to say goodbye to a nice year with a little bit of suffering and a nice smile in your face.
Happy new year to everybody!!
Christmas Classic
Sábado, 26 de Diciembre de 2009 00:00
This is what we do on Christmas Day. We call it the Christmas Classic. Is a trail run in some of the mountains around Vitoria-Gasteiz. I have done this every year since 1992. We always have a great time.
