First days in Kona
Lunes, 05 de Octubre de 2009 16:07

Evrything is going great during our first days in Kailua-Kona. The trip was perfect, we arrived tired and jetlaged but fine, and our bikes and stuff arrived safely with us too, very important. I had an easy run on saturday the day of our arrival, and yesterday morning we swam in the Pier (what a fantastic feeling to swim in this waters!) and I did a fast running workout in the afternoon accompanied by Rut. I feel fresh and strong, the tapering is doing its work. Just six days to the big race and everything is coming together perfectly.

I let you some pictures of my first days in Kona.

Aloha!

See you in Kona
Jueves, 01 de Octubre de 2009 22:20

Everything ready. I leave tomorrow. I will arrive to Kona on saturday, just one week before the race, same as the two years before. Thanks to Ocean & Sports I didn´t have to worry about my flights and accomodation, they took care of everything, one less thing to worry about for me. Last days are always stressful, trying to have everything done on time, not forget anything and keep the good training rythm. Last week was hard, my legs were tired and I had not much energy left, but the tapering is doing its job, and I am regaining my strenght and feeling much much better... I am ready for the big one!!

 See you in Kona.

Bronze medal at Spanish Champs
Jueves, 24 de Septiembre de 2009 21:31

I had a pretty good day last Sunday in Cangas Do Morrazo. The Spanish Olympic Triathlon is at its highest level, with guys in the field like Javier Gomez Noya and Ivan Raña races like the Spanish Championships are very fast. I have been training hard for the last weeks so I couldn´t expect a great result from this race, but things went great from the beginning, I had a very good swim, decent bike and good run, that gave me the bronze medal Behind Javier Gomez Noya and Jose Tovar.

I feel like everything is getting together very nicely, I have the base and I have the speed. This last weeks I am still doing some hard workouts, the last touches to get to Kona in the best shape possible.

Have good training!

Spanish Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships
Jueves, 17 de Septiembre de 2009 20:22

In my preparation for the Ironman World Championships I will take part this next Sunday in the Spanish Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships. The level in this race will be very high so is always good to test myself and race against this fast short distance triathletes and have a good intensity workout, get some speed and fight for a good result.

This last weeks have been very hard, the long workouts are mixed with intensity training so at the end of the day I finish very tired. But this is the most important part of my training for Kona, and this is what makes me stronger and faster!!

Enjoy your training.

Spanish Cross Triathlon Champion
Domingo, 06 de Septiembre de 2009 21:57

After a very good day yesterday I won my second Spanish Cross Triathlon Championship in Zarza de Granadilla, Cáceres. I took the lead early on the bike and I felt very strong despite still feeling the effects of the cold I had during the week. I had a good margin over the second for the run and could take it a little bit easier. Second at the finish line was Victor del Corral and third my brother Hektor. With the result of our teammate Aitor Idigoras, our club SVC-Seguridad won the team competition too.

After some very bad days I am slowly starting to recover from a cold I had during the weekend. A couple of rest days and now I am feeling much better, so I've decided to follow my racing schedule and this Saturday I will be at the start line of the Spanish Triathlon Cross Championships in Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres). Hopefully the cold from the weekend will not slow me down to much and I can get a good result and a good hard workout.

Training in San Diego II
Sábado, 22 de Agosto de 2009 06:21

We had a great time in California. It was my first time in the San Diego area and we enjoyed very much our stay in Carlsbad. Training conditions were good, good swimming at the Encinitas YMCA, good riding and good running too. We did a couple of rides inland, and I found roads here less crowded and with less traffic lights than in the coast but the ride along the coast was good too with great views, but very important too keep an eye in the cars and the people riding there, specially during the weekends. I did most of my running workouts on the road and sidewalks along the coast but I also run in San Elijo lagoon which was very good and did a couple of track workouts at the San Diego university track and in San Marcos. Both tracks have trails nearby, so it is good to make a warm up on the trails and right away hit the track for the speed session.

I did a couple of appearances for my sponsors too, and both went very well. The first one in Bike Religion and the second one was a bike ride from Nytro. The raffles were the most expected moment of the days and many people went back home with a nice price, a Spiuk Kronos helmet, AVIA running shoes or BH t-shirts for example. I signed many autographs too and met and talked to very nice people.

Rut and I were so sad to have to come back home, we felt like we needed a few days more to see and do more things in the area but we couldn’t change our flights and had to come back home. We met fantastic people during our stay and we promise to be back in the future.

See you all soon!
