By this time you will already know that I DNF at Ironman World Championships in Kona. I had the same stomach problems that I suffered in Abu Dhabi at the beggining of the year, this time the problems showed up on the bike and made it impossible to me to finish the race. I did a good swim and I was in the leading pack for the first part of the 180 kilometer bike ride, taking the turn towards Hawi I felt strong and decided to push the pace and try to get away from the pack. From there all went wrong, I suffered a lot in the climb to Hawi, my power was gone and my stomach started to bloat. I decided to take it easy, ride at an easier pace and try to recover. That didn´t happen, my problems were getting worse and I was suffering from abdominal pain. I rode back to Kona as I could and when I left the bike in T2 I didn´t have the pshysical and mental strength to run a marathon.

I’m feeling better now and looking forward to the future. This of course!! is not the end of the world, I have to learn from the mistakes done and get the positive things from saturday’s experience. The most important thing for me has been the support of all the people that follows me, it made me feel much better during this last days, so thank you for all the support messages, and thank you for been there.

Xterra Worlds in Maui are next week, that´s my next race. More will come after Xterra because I don´t want to end up the season this way, I’m in a very good shape and I want to show that to myself. I also want to get some points for the Kona Pro Ranking and come here next year stronger and more motivated. Mahalo to everybody!!
